Lazio's first stop on the Via Francigena del Nord, located in the northernmost part of Tuscia on the border with Tuscany and Umbria, Acquapendente is a destination that satisfies lovers of culture, nature and traditions.
At the foot of the imposing Castle of Torre Alfina, a hamlet of Acquapendente and named one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy in 2007, lies the evocative Sasseto forest, referred to by National Geographic as 'Snow White's forest.'
The great clock of the Barbarossa Tower has been marking time in the town for nearly 500 years. It is from this place that one of the most beautiful views of the town and the surrounding area can be enjoyed.
The murals scattered through the streets of Acquapendente give a fascinating contrast to this town rooted in history.
Not to be missed is the Madonna del Fiore festival held on the third Sunday in May, during which the Pugnaloni, magnificent mosaics made of leaves and colorful flower petals, are set up.
Food and wine occupy a prominent place in Aquesian culture, benefiting from influences from Latium, Tuscany and Umbria.
There is also a strong tradition of craftsmanship, particularly in ceramics, but also in wrought ironwork and tailoring.
