In Grotte di Castro, a town in Latium's Tuscia region on the border with Tuscany and Umbria, stands the Vini Pacchiarotti winery, an oenological jewel that has been able to enhance the ancient native Aleatico grape variety. Founded in 1998 by Antonella Pacchiarotti, affectionately nicknamed 'The Lady of Aleatico,' the winery covers 3.5 hectares of vineyards dedicated to this variety, known for its aromaticity and versatility.
Antonella's passion and dedication have led her to experiment with the potential of this grape, resulting in six different expressions of the same variety, all unique and distinctive: the sweet and fresh Butunì, the deep and passito Turan, the refined rosé Pian di Stelle, the fresh white Matèe, the soft and velvety Cavarosso and the surprising Ramatico, which combines the character of Aleatico with innovative winemaking. It is no coincidence that Cavarosso and Ramatico have been honored by the Italian Sommelier Association in 2024 and 2025.
The winery boasts a splendid 17th-century cellar, entirely excavated by pickaxe, and recently renovated, with three long galleries of more than 70 meters, culminating in a main hall characterized by a striking triple-vaulted ceiling. Here the winery organizes tours and tastings by reservation, offering different formulas that include wine tasting accompanied by local products. This experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of aromas and flavors typical of the region's food and wine culture, through the hospitality, passion and energy of Antonella, whose dedication enhances Aleatico and the surrounding area every day.
